This large bottle was thrown on a potter's wheel from speckled buff stoneware. It was then carved with concentric circle around the neck and an intricate leaf pattern around the base. The glaze applied inside and out is a highly variegated "floating blue" and the manganese specks in the claybody show through to dramatic effect. This piece can serve well as a vase holding a bunch of flowers or as a stand-alone decorative objet d'art.
